Redmond Barry is best known as the judge who presided over Ned Kelly before his death. Adam Cullen possesses an extraordinary talent for the evocation of a personality through bold lines and vivid colours. Here we see a member of the judiciary, weighed down in his legal garb, hiding behind a red toxic face. Clearly the artist wants to portray the severity of a stern, mean judge.
