Whilst the Aurora Borealis lights appear in the northern hemisphere, the southern hemisphere has its own version known as the Aurora Australis. Michael Johnson draws upon his experiences of this extraordinary natural phenomenon to create lyrical interpretations of colour and space. In this work – a counterpart to his painting Aurora Borealis – angular lines dance between the horizontal bands in a way that also suggests musical notation.
