Olsen employs a stark horizon line here to emphasise the proliferation of wattles throughout the landscape. The artist painted this work during a period based in Clarendon, South Australia, where he was influenced by the landscapes of the wine belt. One can detect a trail of small native birds which dart in and amongst the flowers.
